I’ve always wanted to create an in-camera effect that makes it look like I’m lifting the entire room.

This video was shot completely for real — no VFX, no post-production tricks, no editing magic.

The illusion came from building a full raised floor with a hidden trap door underneath. I stood on a scissor lift below the set, and as I pulled on the deadlift bar, the lift slowly lowered me down. A GoPro was mounted directly to the lift, so as I descended, the camera dropped with me — making it appear as if the room itself was being lifted upward.

The whole build took two full days, from constructing the set to testing the movement and getting the timing right. What you’re seeing is the final result, captured entirely in camera.

This is one of those ideas that lived in my head for years — and finally seeing it work for real was incredibly satisfying.
