Founded in 2013 by 20 trailblazing women from the Kwithu Women's Group, Kwithu Kitchen is Malawi's first female-owned food processing cooperative. What began as a small tomato preservation project to feed vulnerable children has blossomed into a thriving social enterprise. With support from TechnoServe a U.S. non-profit, these entrepreneurial women transformed their skills into a successful business processing tomatoes and high-quality Malawian honey on a large scale. Today, Kwithu Kitchen's products grace the shelves of every major supermarket, hotel chain, and numerous restaurants across the country. But Kwithu Kitchen is more than just a business - it's a pathway to empowerment. A portion of the revenue supports the vital community programs run by the Kwithu Women's Group. And through partnerships with USAID and TechnoServe's AINFP program, the cooperative has access to financing, training, and an enabling environment to grow its operations while uplifting local farmers.
