2011年の東日本大震災をきっかけに、津波から命を守る森づくりは始まりました。
宮脇昭先生の「宮脇方式」に基づき、土地本来の樹種を混ぜて密に植えることで、津波災害に強く、多様な命を育む森をつくる取り組みです。

福島県南相馬市では、津波被害を受けた沿岸部に「森の防潮堤」をつくる活動が続いています。
失われた土地に再び命を宿し、次に必ず来る災害から人びとの命を守るために。
市民や全国から集まったボランティアとともに、これまでに約25万本の苗木を植えてきました。

この森は、ただの植樹ではなく、“未来への生きたメッセージ”です。

The Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 marked the beginning of a movement to create forests that protect lives from tsunamis.
Based on Dr. Akira Miyawaki’s “Miyawaki Method,” this approach involves planting a dense mix of native tree species to grow forests that are resilient to tsunami disasters and rich in biodiversity.

In Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, efforts continue to build a “Forest Seawall” along the tsunami-affected coastline.
It is a mission to restore life to the devastated land and protect people from the next inevitable disaster.
Together with local citizens and volunteers from across Japan, we have planted approximately 250,000 seedlings to date.

This forest is more than just a tree-planting effort—it is a living message to the future.
